Exterior Lighting
The current authority of the County Board to regulate the exterior illumination levels of buildings and property would be lost under the proposed form of government.
Arlington is an urban community with a wide variety of building size, form and height. As our density increases, the potential effects of exterior lighting on adjacent and nearby properties increases as well.
The ability to regulate the intensity and type of exterior illumination and to be able to mitigate any negative impacts of exterior lighting is important for Arlington to maintain. Having this authority may also be valuable in promoting Arlington’s environmental sustainability goals as we move forward.
